Why support More at Home?

1
Help seniors
live healthy

Public home support is unaffordable for most seniors: a senior earning $27,800 per year is expected to pay $8,800 annually for just one daily home support visit. 61% of seniors admitted to long-term care received no home support in the 90 days before admission.

2
Expand access
to home care

By 2036, over 20% of British Columbians will be over 65. That will require 30,000+ new long-term care beds to meet demand. Meanwhile, the waitlist has doubled with a 40% increase in seniors looking for long-term care

3
Make direct
impact

90% of Canadian seniors want to age at home, and 1 in 9 long-term care admissions is unnecessary, meaning those seniors could remain at home with proper support. Canada spends more on institutional long-term care than on home care, despite it being the cost-effective and preferred option.

4
Healthy family
& community

Family caregivers experience less community involvement, fewer extracurricular activities, and higher stress levels at home, which can lead to increased rates of depression and substance use.

/Our Inspiration/
"I felt like they were putting nails in my coffin under the public care system, stripped of dignity while my family did everything for me. But once I was connected with private care, I reclaimed my life—exercising, enjoying coffee outside, and feeling truly heard and respected again.”

Help a Senior Stay Home — With Dignity and Choice

At More at Home Society, your donation funds what matters most: direct, personalized home care for seniors who are expected to pay too much for public care, and still can’t afford private support.

Care costs $45/hour, delivered in 2-hour visits.

Most seniors receive up to 14 hours of care per week: enough to help with meals, mobility, hygiene, and social connection, while keeping them safe and independent at home.

95% of every dollar goes directly to care.

Your impact is immediate and tangible:

  • $90 provides one 2-hour visit
  • $315 funds one week of care (up to 7 visits)
  • $1,350 supports one month of aging in place

You’re not just giving hours of help,  you’re providing peace of mind, freedom, and the right to choose home over institution.

Donate today. Let’s make home possible, together.
